An interview with Lauren, a Plan A Bride.

Lauren and Lloyd. What a dreamboat of a couple. I remember every phone call, every meeting, every FaceTime as if it were yesterday.

Lauren actually won our services through an Instagram competition, and I'm so glad she did as I truly haven't meet a more deserving bride.

Their love story is dreamy, when you see them together it's hard to imagine how they wouldn't have been created specifically for each other.

Literally every member of the Plan A team were in tears (of joy!) as they read their vows, in a glass chapel overlooking the ocean. It was the kind of day you imagine would be in a fairy tail. And Im thankful they're still my friends to this day.

First of all, how did you guys meet?

I truly believe our love story is like a fairy-tale that every little girl dreams of and mine actually came true. To think we used to send cute homemade valentine day cards to one another when we were 7 years old, to a heart wrenching move to the other side of world breaking up our young love, to keeping in touch over the next four years as pen pals, to a trip to England rekindling our forever love, to making a big move 'down under' where the sparkly diamond ring was placed on the finger, to eventually the prince making his princess his queen.

How did he propose?

SURPRISE! Who would have thought Lloyd could have kept a secret, organised & perfected such an amazing proposal for the girl that plans, organises and knows every little thing going on.
Something out of a movie... stranded on the breath-taking Australian North Stradbroke Island surrounding by white sand, crystal clear water & a sunset of silky, smooth collusion of sky burst reds and yellows setting the idyllic romantic scene.
Stumbling across a perfectly set picnic, tasteful bottle of bubbles & Lloyd hitting jackpot with his proposal by secretly setting up a video from behind so we could watch on repeat for the next year of engagement bubble we lived in.
Although Lloyd had perfected the perfect lines to say, he suffered with stage fright/excitement and out of the blue, popped down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. The SHOCK, EXCITEMENT & EMOTION rushed through my body and left me speechless.
From then on, the Face time started, and we called all the most important people in our lives and opened the Face time to my stunning diamond ring sparkling against the gorgeous sunset. The love and excitement we received gave me goose bumps and we told our family and friends to get ready because we are getting married in BALI!

What made you decide on Bali?

As soon as Lloyd had popped the question the planning for a wedding in Bali began. Our love for Bali meant that it was the perfect location for our destination wedding. When it comes to idyllic and unique, Bali is definitely the setting for our special day. For us, there’s almost nowhere as dreamy as Bali. We had friends and family from Australia, England & Canada that we wanted to invite but understood that Bali is on the other side of the world for some people and a trip away from home for others and that not everyone would be able to attend. But this was our dream, so Bali it was.

Do you think having a planner helped? If so, why?

100% YES! We actually visited Bali to look at venues and meet with a few wedding planners, but we never actually clicked with any planners that we met on this trp. They didn’t get our vision; we didn’t feel comfortable with them and we felt like just a customer not a special Bride & Groom. So, at this point we decided against a wedding planner.

Until, we entered a competition on Instagram which lead us to winning, a wedding planner. When we found out we had actually WON we was excited to actually see what the fuss was all about with a wedding planner. I’m very organised, adore planning & a complete control freak so I was skeptical about our first conversation with Tash. But as soon as we chatted over email, we felt to grateful to have won the competition and won who we would call, the best wedding planner!

Tash made us feel so special, comfortable and confident in delivering our dream day. Tash became more like a friend than a wedding planner. Quick to respond, nothing was ever impossible, followed over vision, made sure we stuck to budget and prioritized what was most important in making our dream wedding come true.

What was the most stressful part of planning your destination wedding? (future brides take note!)

I actually really enjoyed planning the wedding and wouldn’t saying the planning was stressful. Admittingly there were stressful times such as; knowing whether guests were going to be attending, transferring money to the vendors in Bali. However, having Tash at the end of the phone to help eliminate any of the potential stressful moments was the reason I enjoyed the lead up to our big day. She was always there to reassure, think of any potential back up ideas, speak to the venue and vendors. She knew the answer and resolution to every question and any problem.

What was your happiest moment?

Admittedly I totally fan girl over the sheer magical moment of the dreamy ceremony draped in florals, the pintrest perfect reception area with personal touches, the wedding dress of dreams from the sleeves to the back and finally the train and not to forget the romantic atmosphere.

Our entire day was surreal, magnificent a thing I'd do all over again. But, if I have to highlight the best moment, it would have to be the moment the TAMBOURINES were handed to our guests during the reception. While the saxophonist played the perfect song (JUBEL by Klingande) our guests began to tap away to the beat & when I didn’t think my smile could beam any bigger than it already was, our whole wedding party stood up & shook their tambourine, jumped around and from that moment, I knew it was the best day of my life. I looked to my husband and said “this is my dream come true.”

As COCO Chanel said, "a girl should be two things, CLASSY & FABULOUS." However, staying classy and fabulous can be hard to achieve all the time and that’s why I decided that once the party finished & our 50 guest had drunk their way through the endless alcohol and added wear to the spectacular glass dance floor, it was a well deserved and unique idea to take a trip to MC DONALDS on the transfer back to the hotel. And yes, when I asked Tash to organise this her eyes lit up and she replied, “and that’s why I’m your wedding planner” Tash was just as excited as me about this idea. The wedding had gone from dreamy to cheesy but in all seriousness, this is exactly what everyone needed & captured how down to earth we really are & who doesn't love a BIG MAC & CHIPS after several tequila shots.

If you could change anything would you? If so what and why?

My entire wedding was filled with everything I ever wanted and dreamed of and the day was exactly how my husband and I wanted. I wouldn’t change a thing. Although, I’m so glad that my perspective changed on the lead up to wedding and instead of the focus being the need to please everyone else I did as my husband insisted and made sure I enjoyed EVERYTHING with no stress and did I as we pleased. And that I sure did.

What was your experience like working with Plan A?

Where to even begin… my entire experience with Plan A was a DREAM. If you are tossing up about whether or not you need Plan A… Stop! Book them straight away. You really do need them. From the first contact with Tash, I felt at ease, excited and confident. Tash became our biggest advocate, wedding guru and lifelong friend. Tash and the team went above and beyond for us. Tash helped with everything from sourcing the exact styling items we wanted, creating and tweaking run sheets, contacting and coordinating with vendors, adding personal and unique touches, to exceeding our expectations and making myself and my husband feel like we had not one single thing to worry about aside from enjoying our day as the newly husband and wife.

Any recommendations or tips for future brides?

Really just enjoy every second, from the lead up, to the big day to everyday after. Stress less and enjoy more. Everyone always tells you that it all works out in the end and let me tell you, it really does all come together and it becomes the BEST DAY OF YOUR LIVES.
