An interview with Louisa, a Plan A bride.

Updated: Jul 4, 2020

Chris and Louisa found me through mutual friends. We were kind of familiar with each other through mixing in similar social circles, but hadnt actually met until they contacted me regarding their wedding.

EVERYTHING about this couple and their wedding screamed fun, fun, fun!

They perfectly complimented each other, Louisa being excitable with a real zest for life, and Chris grounded with a mission to make this the best day of their lives.

They wanted a mix of luxe and tropical with a handful of classic romance. It all came together perfectly and it's safe to say every single person laughed, cried, and partied like tomorrow didn't exist.

I loved this wedding. Visually it was stunning, and emotionally it hit all the right notes that a wedding should.

Thanks you two for sending through these photos, it was great to relive this special day!

First of all, how did you guys meet?

The old saying “timing is everything” really rings true in our case. Despite crossing paths some 10 years earlier during the infamous “Circus” days, it took for the modern advancements in technology and the iPhone for us to eventually meet. Cutting through a swathe of social media and dating apps our interest was piqued enough in one another to lock in that ever fateful first date. Despite Louisa’s fashionably late arrival and my slight awkwardness, there were plenty of signs to suggest some special energy was at play that evening. Fast forward 7 (crazy yet amazing) months and we arrive at the proposal.

How did he propose?

The Mission: Surprise the girl who does not allow surprises. The scene was set beautifully. Enlist the best friend’s help to lock in Sunday double date lunch at the desired riverside restaurant and simply rock up and do the bended knee thing whilst “waiting for the bestie to arrive”. Sounds simple enough, right? Ever the entertainer, Louisa managed to contract a slight strain of ebola virus on the Friday and was housebound the entire weekend. After LOTS of encouraging and prodding I managed to get her down to the restaurant and seated long enough to catch her off-guard and get the “yes” answer to the most important question I have posed. The excitement was capped off with one last surprise – Louisa walking into her house filled with champagne and her family. Winning.

What made you decide on Bali?

We both loved Bali independently however when discussing what our wedding would look like we both didn’t just want your stock standard one night of fun and done so destination it had to be and what better place than the tropical surroundings of Bali to creature our mini festival.

What was the most stressful part of planning your destination wedding? (future brides take note!)

TBH if we didn’t have a planner I don’t know if there would of even been a wedding ha ha.

Probably deciding on where to have the wedding. It wasn’t until we were at the airport after the first reconnaissance we actually found Luna2 (now Noku Beach House) but once that was locked in not much at all!

What was your happiest moment?

Even though we got officially married in Perth the week before the happiest moment was saying I DO once more to my soul mate. I thought I’d be cool calm and collected as I was already married but nahhhhhh it was probably even more special being right on the water and totally in the moment

If you could change anything would you? If so what and why?

Nothing, not a damn thing..

Do you think having a planner helped? If so, why?

100%. When you are in a different country and there is a language barrier it is tough so spend the money on someone who not only has the connections but speaks the language

What was your experience like working with Plan A?

Having Tash as our planner was probably one of the best decisions we made.

She is the girl never sleeps when it comes to her brides! She gave the best advice on everything – a true professional in her field.

Any recommendations or tips for future brides?

Having a spreadsheet to keep track of all the ins and outs with the money was super important. That way we could see where we had more room to play. Also keeping the lines of communication open with your planner / suppliers.

Get a planner! And still do a couple of pre-wedding visits to meet with suppliers, venue and said planner. Start a Pinterest board and don’t be afraid to ask for whatever you want. You’ll be surprised how industrious they are.
